Will there be sexual things shown?  That would be quite interesting, if so. Hmm...

Was the name Nikki just made up on the fly by her or was there careful consideration made in the name's choosing?

First off, thanks to Silver Seren for getting me into this comic.  Luff joo!

Now, to gush.  This comic looks amazing so far!  I can't wait to see more of it.

I can think of few, if any, good reasons to hate a person. I can think of no worse reason, however, than for who they choose to love.

The name is derivative of the Emperor's original name, which is Nicodemus.

That's what I thought the reason was. Alright then, that makes sense.

I'm actually quite surprised that the...Empress, she is now I suppose, was able to so easily become accustomed to a gender change. I mean...unless you're transgendered or a cross-dresser or otherwise already attuned with the opposite gender, I would think most people would have a hard time getting used to such an abrupt shift. I know I would.

Or is the answer to that just that Nikki is that good? Tongue

@Insomniac, Tuna: Hey, guys, i'm glad you joined. I didn't want to be all lonely over here. I was thinking people from DMFA would be flooding this place because of it going on the main site, but I guess not. That's fine though, us TwoKinds(ers) will just have to do it instead. ^_^

Each of the main characters in Beyond the Veil has a number of statistics which we keep behind the board, so to speak.  One of the more important is one we call an infomorphic rating, and it plays into how well a character can adjust to drastic changes.  Originally tracked by the Empire under Nicodemus Aurelius, it was a designator that was carefully tracked in all high ranking Imperial agents.  Individuals with ratings that were deemed too low would not be ressurrected or cloned because the psychological shock would have rendered that person unstable, unpredictable, and thus unusable.

Nicodemus had his mind deliberately played with over the course of his three hundred + years reign, and has the highest infomorphic rating in the comic.  This essentially makes him (now her) a little bit like Bugs Bunny from the old Merry Melody cartoons.  Her personality is incredibly plastic... which ironically also makes her a little unstable, unpredictable... and dangerous.

Oh he (she) is evil.  Then again... who isn't?  I wish I could explain because I'd really love too, but that would take so much of the fun out of the comic. Smiley  I'm glad you're enjoying the story thus far; by all means continue to do so.  Beowulf and I are in something of a rough spot here at the beginning, ironing out exactly what he can do as opposed to what he'd LIKE to do (trust me, I have a hard time keeping him reigned in with all the gleam he wants to put in).  If I didn't do something to curtail his efforts he'd have one frame done per week, so it's something of a trade off.  As it is he's working himself rabid (sometimes literally) so some changes are in the works, but since we don't know exactly what they'll be I won't say anything yet.

You mean like how shes using the concept of love and her feminine wiles to basically control the general's mind to the fullest extent, so he will basically do whatever she tells him to without any possibility of betrayal or hesitation?

You also did not answer the question of sexual things.

BTW, I am curious, are you and Beowolf brothers, a couple, just good buds who live together? Because by the fun little filler adventures, all I've seen was indications of a "living together" relationship.

Hehehee, Yeee <3, thank you! ^_^

I know that Ceb knew what he was getting into when he took me on as an artist, considering how playful I can get with scenarios and expressions.  Hell, I was thinking about having Zeeal doing a Saturday Night Fever tribute at the end of the intro chapter, decked out in John Travolta's liesure suit, dancin' under a disco ball to "More than a Woman", whilst Joshua and Nikki were smoochin'! XD  In fact, that may yet come to pass as a fun filler image. =D

Beowulf and I have a platonic relationship based around mutual respect and getting this comic out.  We've been friends for some few years now and the story of that friendship has been at times odd and at other times remarkable.  However, having said that, this is neither the time nor the place to remark upon it.

I have to agree with Smiling Ahab on the droid abuse thing, but I'm more of an "any humor makes things better" kind of person. I mean, I love serious plots, but I love them even better when they take a breather and don't take themselves seriously.

That's why Beowulf and I make such a good team.  I can be funny, and Beo would be among the first to tell you this, but serious plot development is basically the game I'm in.  Beowulf has such a unique touch that as often as not the humor in any given strip makes me laugh just as hard as anyone else because I didn't know it was going to be there.

Are you both the artists and writers? Or does one write and one draw? Or does one write and draw while the other also draws? Whats the whole...... *tries to find word good for situation. ERROR. ERROR.* ...deal here?
